Bolivia - All leather man's hobnailed travel sandals

At first glance, these decorated leather man's sandals look innocent enough. In fact, however, they are lethal weapons. The metal toe tips and hobnails in the sole make them capable of inflicting mortal damage. The sole and heel consist of several layers of leather nailed together. The crossed front straps of the upper are worked away between the leather layers. The heel quarter straps however are fixed all the way through the sole whereby the ends are bearded in order to prevent them becoming unstuck. Round or flower-shaped colourful patches are riveted under each nailhead for decoration.
